RMCC Profile

Rugby Methodist Church Centre is a town centre church. It was opened in 1984 replacing three former Methodist churches and, within a short time, being joined by a fourth.

The church exists so that all may experience, enjoy, share and proclaim the love of God.

The congregation is ethnically diverse and inclusive.

An average Sunday morning congregation would be 70-80 adults and 10 – 15 children and young people. Activities are provided for the children and teenagers and there is also a crèche for the youngest children. Everyone follows the Narrative Lectionary using the Spill the Beans material.

Currently the Children & Families worker goes into the 3 closest primary schools for lunch clubs, assemblies etc and at Christmas and Easter classes from these 3 schools plus the local Catholic school visit us for interactive Christmas and Easter experiences. Prayer Spaces are run annually in two of the schools.

There is a growing Kids Club and a small youth group – both meeting currently on a Friday evening. We also have a monthly Fresh Expressions form of worship for families ‘Praise & Bake’ on a Sunday afternoon. There is a well attended Toddler Group, Family Fun Mornings most school holidays and an annual holiday club.

Rugby Methodist Church Centre is also linked with the Chapel at Newbold – where there is a vibrant and growing work with the local community.

We are currently developing our work with the local community which will be centred around a community cafe.

The children & families worker will play an important and exciting part in developing our vision to provide a place of welcome where people will discover the love of God.  We are looking for someone who will continue and build on our existing ministry to children and families by:

  • Encouraging, befriending and supporting the children & families who are already part of the church family or are becoming so
  • Building on well established links with the local schools

The Children & Families Worker may well be involved in running some of our existing activities as listed above but it is the expectation that they will also have the opportunity to develop new initiatives.
